Every year Chemeketa continues to use the current modular buildings. Money meant for the classroom and instead must be redirected the resources to pay for the upkeep of facilities. Two years ago Chemeketa lost two 35-year-old temporary buildings due to mold infestations. Both buildings had been used much longer than expected and the college has 30 more that are expensive to maintain, heat, and cool. If the bond levy is approved, new state-of-the-art facilities, conforming to the highest environmental standards, will reduce overhead costs and free up general operating funds for the classroom.
